Galp Comercialização Portugal

Aviation Manager, Member of the Divestment Business Management Committee. Managed all P&L activities, aviation operations and customer service deliveries, as well as monitored all company functions to ensure agreed controls were in place and quality standards adhered to. Implemented adequate governance for legal and contractual documentation between the company, other oil companies and the Airport Authorities related to new investments in Faro and Porto airports. Managed sales revenue of €50 million, budget of €2.5 million and two direct commercial and operations reports. Conducted introductory meetings with potential buyers to facilitate the smooth transition of the divested business to new ownership and maintained a close relationship with the EU-appointed trustee (ING) to clarify all matters relating to the company’s aviation business.

ExxonMobil Aviation

Global aviation fuel business – subsidiary of ExxonMobil Corporation – operating in more than 61 countries with approximately 450 commercial and military customers and thousands of general aviation customers. Functions divided between Portugal.

Aviation Manager, Lisbon

He led marketing, sales and strategic planning activities for the Lisbon-based company’s aviation business in Italy, Portugal and Spain. He directly managed the company’s accounts with Alitalia, Iberia and TAP airlines and implemented forecasting processes to facilitate accurate management reporting.

Achieved average sales revenue of $650 million during tenure.

Regional Aviation Manager, London

Managed a series of contracts generating over $200 million in annual sales revenue, as well as leading the company’s sales, strategic planning, forecasting and business development activities in Southern Europe, North Africa, the Middle East and Brazil. Implemented systems and processes within the new EssoAir affiliate and existing Exxon affiliates and initiated strategies to develop and market aviation fuel on multiple continents.

Achieved $650 million in revenue managing and developing teammates from diverse nationalities and cultural backgrounds and directly managing the matrix of six sales and customer service colleagues.

Significantly contributed to the start-up of the new Surrey-based EssoAir International affiliate, which subsequently assumed worldwide responsibility for Exxon’s aviation business.

Successfully led the integration of internal accounting and billing systems following the company’s decision to merge EssoAir International and Mobil Aviation, in Southern Europe and North Africa, into the new entity.

ExxonMobil Aviation International.

Reached annual sales of approximately 190 KM3 in countries within the area of operation.

Drastic reduction in the level of late payments and working capital, which was equivalent to doubling the shareholder return, introducing new work processes.

Esso Portugal

Subsidiary of Exxon Corporation, produces fuels, chemicals, LPG and lubricants in Portugal – 200 employees. During this 16-year period, he successfully assumed a series of increasingly responsible roles, culminating in his appointment as International Sales Manager in Lisbon. Roles are summarized below with selected achievements:

International Sales Manager, Lisbon

Managed marketing activities for aviation and marine lubricants and fuels in Portugal and the Azores, led strategic planning, budgeting and forecasting, and oversaw sales operations at five airports. Board member of several unincorporated joint venture companies with other suppliers.

Founder, Administrator and Chief Executive Officer of SABA – the company that handled the storage and shipment operations for Esso, BP, Mobil and Shell at Porto airport. Directly managed six sales, operations and customer service colleagues at Esso.

Implementation of the OIMS (Operations Integrity Management System) and construction of the company’s first Oil Loss control process. Budget management, forecasting and planning initiatives for the company’s Logistics and Distribution Division, as well as four direct reports. Communications between the company and the NATO/Portuguese Navy to coordinate port security and protection activities and operationally manage the supply business on the Tagus River.

Safety and Security Advisor, Responsible for the company’s security and protection issues in regular contact with the American Embassy in Lisbon.

Maritime Terminal Superintendent,

Management of oil and chemical handling, supply activities, lubricant bending plant and LPG filling station, as well as four direct reports.
